Statia Historical Walking Tour
Statia Historical Walking Tour
Learn about the history and culture of St. Eustatius on this unique opportunity to journey back in time to discover the rich history of the Statia people on this guided walking excursion.
Your walking tour guide will take you from the waterfront passing Gallows Bay, The Old Gin House, Warehouse Ruins, and up the Bay Path through the major sites in the town. Included in this excursion you will see the Roman Catholic Church – circa 1910, the Rum shop, Deep Yard, Claes Gut, Fort Oranje & the Dutch Reformed Church, Wilhelmina Park, The Synagogue Path & Johnson Compound, Honen Dalim.
A highlight is the beautiful Government Guesthouse Compound to the St. Eustatius Historical Foundation Museum, “One of the BEST in the Caribbean”. Before the tour of the museum, a senior citizen of Sint. Eustatius will enlighten you on her life while living on Statia - the history, knowledge/experience and of the developments she’s experienced on the Island. Your guide will return you to the yacht, or you may opt to stay longer in the town to enjoy Oranjestad’s (Upper town).
