The Norwegian Fjords

Voyages Nowhere are there fjords to match the grandeur of those in Norway, where the clear water reflects the mountains like a mirror. Sail between soaring granite cliffs and spy mountainside farms, charming villages, and an array of wildlife along this stunning coastline.

Cross the Arctic Circle

Voyages Cross the Arctic Circle, promising a once-in-a-lifetime experience, where you have the distinct advantage of seeing daylight for twenty-four hours each day. In anticipation of arriving in Norway, be serenaded by several of renowned composer Edvard Grieg’s masterpieces as you sail.

Lofoten, Norway

Voyages Norway’s celebrated archipelago of islands is heralded for its dramatic scenery, with peaks like the Svolvaergeita pinnacle jutting up into the sky. This is where majestic mountains meet brilliantly white sandy beaches, fishing villages dot the coastlines, and hiking trails crisscross their way through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Europe. Against the backdrop of the midnight sun and small villages, SeaDream overnights in Lofoten.

Tromsø, Norway

Voyages Sitting pretty in the heart of the Arctic wilderness with steep mountains and breathtaking fjords as its backdrop, Tromsø boasts the rare distinction of being located on two islands: Troms (Tromsøy) and Kval (Kvaløy). Because Tromsø is located north of the Arctic Circle, the sun is visible continuously from late May to late July. It’s here that you’ll encounter the best of old and contemporary Norway, from encounters with local reindeer herders and traditional fishermen to a thriving social scene and food culture.

Faroe Islands

Voyages This remote archipelago of 18 islands is truly removed from time. As a result of its isolation, the Faroese language is considered by many to be the closest to the original Viking language. SeaDream calls on Torshavn, the country’s capital, and the seaside town of Runavik on the Faroese island of Estuary. The area is naturally perfect for hiking, birdwatching, and diving. It's here that you’ll experience the locals’ approach to exploration: “Take nothing but pictures, kill nothing but time, leave nothing but footprints, make nothing but memories.”

Bergen, Norway

Voyages Oslo is capital, but Bergen is the quintessential Norwegian city. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Bryggen (“the docks”) is filled with carefully preserved wooden buildings. Restored as shops, cafés, and museums, the attractive district looks as though it was lifted from another century. Stroll across Fisketorget, the open-air fish market and allow your senses to take it all in (and be sure to sample some fresh shrimp or smoked peppered mackerel). Ride the funicular to the top of Mount Fløien and admire the sweeping view before heading off to visit composer Edvard Grieg’s birth home.

Oslo, Norway

Voyages Norway’s capital sits on the country’s southern coast at the head of the Oslofjord. Heralded for its green spaces, contemporary architecture, and museums, Oslo is encapsulated in woodland hills and forests—most within easy reach from the city. Be sure to spend time exploring the city’s many highlights over coffee: the waterside Norwegian Maritime Museum, the iconic Opera House, The Akershus Fortress, and the world-famous Munch Museum, home to Norwegian artist Edvard Munch’s iconic painting The Scream.

Ålesund, Norway

Voyages Perched at the entrance of the Geirangerfjord, itself featured on the UNESCO World Heritage list, Ålesund is the gateway to some of the region’s most spectacular fjords. Jugendstil, or Art Nouveau, was popular at the turn of the twentieth century when designers incorporated it into the city’s architecture. Ålesund's Museum houses photos and a model of the 1898 town layout, offering a glimpse into the city’s past. SeaDream anchors overnight here to enable guests to fully enjoy this beautiful seaside town on Norway’s west coast, with ample time for strolling, kayaking, hiking, or exploring some of the nearby fjords.

Stockholm, Sweden

Voyages An enchanting municipality at the meeting point of Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea, the Swedish capital is one of the world’s great maritime cities. Stockholm’s maritime doorstep is a magnificent archipelago of more than 24,000 islands and islets–many just big enough to support a single cottage. As you yacht toward the 13th-century "city that floats on water,” landmarks such as Storkyrkan (Stockholm Cathedral) and Three Crowns Tower come into view. The medieval Gamla Stan district is the historic core of the original Stadsholmen Island settlement.

Visby, Gotland, Sweden

Voyages The Hanseatic walled trading town of Visby on the island of Gotland dates from the Viking Age, formed on a shore with a natural harbor, sheltered by steep cliff formations. This fairytale locale is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its well-preserved town wall and medieval fortification and towers. The town’s abundant churches include St. Mary’s Cathedral and the medieval ruins of St. Nicolai and St. Karin.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Voyages Home to fairytale author Hans Christian Andersen, Copenhagen is defined by its canals, waterside cafés, and beautiful Tivoli Gardens. Indre By, the city's historic center, houses Frederiksstaden, an 18th-century rococo district, home to the royal family’s Amalienborg Palace. Nearby Renaissance-era Rosenborg Castle is a sight to behold, surrounded by gardens and home to the crown jewels.

Helsinki, Finland

Voyages Helsinki showcases both the traditional with the modern, in every sense. The city’s architecture features stunning Art Nouveau buildings and sleek modern structures including the Sibelius Monument, while you explore the country’s rich heritage at the Suomenlinna Fortress or the Seurasaari open-air museum. Unwind in a traditional Finnish sauna, an integral part of Finnish culture, and take part in the city’s food culture.

Northern Europe Destinations

British Isles

Bordeaux, France

Shetland Islands

Our Northern Europe itineraries follow historical pathways and call on sheltered island gems, including remote ports in and along Scotland’s Shetland Islands, Northern Ireland’s coastline, Wales, England, and the fabled British Isles. Embark on a dramatic transit through the Kiel Canal. Discover the seaside resort destinations Sassnitz and Warnemünde, Germany, your gateway to Berlin. Enjoy overnight stays in such storied locations as Lerwick, Scotland and the celebrated wine region of Bordeaux, France, with time to linger longer and explore more.

The British Isles

Voyages The islands of Great Britain, Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Inner and Outer Hebrides, the Northern Isles of Orkney and Shetland—and thousands of smaller islands—collectively comprise the dreamy British Isles. Rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and intimate yachting harbors and ports allow a view of island life you haven’t experienced unless you have approached these destinations by yacht. Yachting through the remote Isles of Scilly and castle-dotted, rural Isle of Man transport you to otherworldly locations.

Fowey, England

Voyages Dock in Fowey Harbor to explore the small town of Fowey, England, sitting pretty on the south coast of Cornwall, just a stone’s throw away from the Biomes House, the largest contained rainforest, and the award-winning garden restoration project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Established hundreds of years ago as a trading and navel town, Fowey boasts a heady mix of coastal walking paths, quaint streets, and luxe boutiques, backgrounded by a picturesque countryside and thirteenth-century Restormel Castle.

Shetland & Orkney Islands

Voyages With seemingly unending miles of coastline and beautiful natural backdrops to explore, the Shetland and Orkney Islands archipelagos lie on the rugged northern tip of Scotland. Ideal for yachting, walking, hiking, and cycling, many of the islands along these shorelines are uninhabited. The calm and clear coastal waters are perfect for kayaking, especially during the summer months, when you can explore from your yacht’s signature water sports marina.  In order to maximize your time in these unsurpassed yachting locations, SeaDream overnights in both Lerwick, Scotland and Kirkwall, Scotland.

Lisbon, Portugal

Voyages Portugal's bustling capital showcases a rich contrast of the historical and modern. Situated near the Tagus River and endlessly sunny, Lisbon embodies a unique beauty and an internationally acclaimed architectural singularity. Its charming hilly neighborhoods boast winding, cobblestone streets and pastel-painted homes and cafés, which happily serve up the city’s signature cuisine, including pastel de nata and custard tarts. From imposing Sao Jorge Castle, the view encompasses the city’s Old Town, Tagus Estuary, and suspension bridge.

Bordeaux, France

Voyages France’s Atlantic shore between Pointe de Grave (at the mouth of the Gironde River) and Biarritz (at the foot of the Pyrenees), is known as Côte d’Argent. Cooler than its Côte d’Azur cousin, its fine beaches are far less crowded. The river narrows near Bordeaux, centered on one of the world’s most celebrated wine-producing regions. More than 10,000 vineyards dot the countryside providing most of the epicurean nation’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes.

Antwerp, Belgium

Voyages One of the world’s major seaports sitting pretty on the Scheldt River, Antwerp gained fame as the center of the diamond industry as well as its longstanding history for celebrating the fine arts. Its celebration of art and design can be seen in almost every corner of the city, including its museums, art galleries, and architecture. Because Antwerp is home to over 150 different nationalities, making it ethnically rich, it is home to incredible Napalese, Moroccan and Arabic cuisine. Of course, chocolate, coffee, and frites (fries, served up in your favorite frituur) are staples in this lovely, strollable city.

Sassnitz, Germany

Voyages Rügen is the name of an archipelago of 30 small islands and peninsulas that jut into the Baltic Sea off Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Germany’s largest island, also known as Rügen, was an Imperial resort. The nostalgic Belle Epoque legacy lingers in its tiny fishing villages, secluded beaches, and pleasant tree-lined avenues. The seaside resort of Sassnitz is your gateway to the nearby Jasmund National Park with its unique chalk cliffs. Enjoy the island’s well-maintained trails or take a bicycle and pedal across the countryside.

The Kiel Canal

Voyages It’s just a short distance between Brunsbüttel and Kiel on a map, but the 98.7-kilometer Kiel Canal saves mariners a full day’s journey around the long Jutland Peninsula. The channel winds across Germanys’ pastoral Schleswig-Holstein Region–in places where the fields seem so close, you could almost touch the cows. Friendly German residents with homes along the route wave to passing marine sailors and would clearly invite guests for fresh baked goods and tea if they would only stop for a visit.
